A ductless split system is a heater and air conditioner that is not attached to any ducts. They are designed to provide heating, cooling, and airflow to individual rooms or to portions of a home. They are sought after for enclosed patios, garages, or add-ons that don't have ductwork. They can be a solution for older homes where it is often quite difficult to add new ductwork when renovating. They’re also an ideal selection if you own or manage multifamily units that don’t have a central heating and air conditioning system that circulates throughout the property.
Initially designed for compact spaces calling for targeted heating or cooling, Fujitsu Ductless Mini Split systems have evolved to become a popular choice for whole-home climate control. These systems offer several advantages that make them increasingly appealing for homeowners:

A ductless split system is conveniently compact and flexible. You won’t have to fret about it taking up space or not circulating air and heat sufficiently. We can perform ductless split system installation services, creating a zoned area that receives the air and heat circulation required for comfortable living.
While a duct system can be quite complex and lengthy in installation, ductless split systems are mounted inconspicuously to the wall or ceiling. Since we’ve installed numerous ductless split systems, we work swiftly and efficiently.
You won’t be forced to deal with expensive energy bills to heat or cool down an add-on or infrequently used space in your home or office. You can have the opportunity to save money and 25% or more of your energy efficiency.
Not only will your ductless mini split system be concealed, but it also won’t disturb you or your visitors. You won’t have to be concerned about your heating or cooling system making loud sounds indicating it’s on. You’ll hardly notice or hear your ductless split system.
Are you concerned that window units might dislodge and fall out? That’s a valid concern. However, with ductless split system installation, our technicians will swiftly and accurately secure the unit to the wall or ceiling so that a dislodged heating and cooling unit is no longer an issue you need to worry about.
With a mini split AC system installation, you will acquire more interior design options available for your selection. Your interior air distribution units can actually be suspended from the ceiling or hung on a wall, if necessary. If you opt for units that stand on the floor, their placement can be altered, as needed.
Ductless split systems are not only reserved for just traditional wall mounting. These modern systems can also be installed in various parts of a room in order to maximize space and create the air and heat circulation necessary for a temperature-controlled oasis.
Wall-mounted ductless systems provide you with easy access to the unit in order to ensure proper operation, while still remaining sleek and modern in appearance and completely unobtrusive.
Similar to wall-mounted split systems, ceiling suspension splits are installed on the ceiling but are not flush. They’re readily accessible and easy to install.
Without invasive ductwork, floor-standing split systems won’t take up livable space or obstruct walkways, as they’re installed near the bottom of the wall and not actually on the floor.
Don’t want to mount your ductless split system to the wall? No problem. We can install it flush into the ceiling to keep it out of the way and simulate a visually pleasing duct system.
Heat pumps operate on a simple yet effective principle similar to your refrigerator. They use electricity to circulate refrigerant, transferring heat from one area to another. When heat is moved from inside your home to the outdoors, it functions as an air conditioner. Conversely, when heat is transferred from the outdoors into your home, the system acts as a heat pump. It's a versatile solution for year-round comfort.
Save money and space with Fujitsu's ductless systems. Contrary to traditional central air systems, which can lose over 30% of energy through ducts, our mini-splits are more efficient and easy to install. You won't need to sacrifice closet space or worry about sealing ducts in unconditioned areas like attics or crawlspaces.
Fujitsu's Halcyon HFI systems provide tailored comfort by connecting 2 to 8 indoor units to a single outdoor unit. Each indoor unit creates its own comfort 'zone,' allowing for targeted heating or cooling in specific rooms, hallways, or open spaces.
With a large heat exchanger and high-capacity compressor, RLS3H models maintain standard heating capacity even at low outdoor temperatures, down to 3°F. These models also deliver over 73% of their rated heating capacity at temperatures as low as -15°F.
We don’t recommend you attempt installing a ductless split system alone. These systems are complex for someone not certified or licensed to install them properly. Our team has qualified professionals with years of installation experience. Allow us to save you time and energy on a complicated installation process.
The cost of ductless split system installation will vary depending on the number of units to install and the labor involved. Our team will always provide an estimate before we start work and keep you in the loop the entire time.
We Install Ductless Split Systems from Top-Rated Brands
Mini split systems typically last an average of 20 years. However, you can shorten or extend this lifespan by how well you maintain your system. Cleaning your units and air filters monthly will keep your system in top condition. We also advise hiring an HVAC professional for bi-annual tune-ups to stay on top of maintenance.
Technically yes, but HVAC professionals do not recommend replacing only the air handler or condenser/heat pump. To ensure that the units are compatible, the best practice is to replace both simultaneously. Replacing one and not the other may compromise the integrity of the units and incur more costs in the long term.
Your air filter should be washed on a monthly or bi-monthly basis. Manufacturers recommend getting your units cleaned professionally at least once a year by a certified representative.
The filter easily comes out of the unit and should be washed with water and mild detergent.
Some systems notify you when to clean your filters. Since filter cleaning is important, your evaporator will automatically shut down at 500 hours of use if the filter isn't washed, and stay off until the filter is washed.
If you think your outdoor unit needs cleaning, schedule an appointment with Great Northern Heating and Air in order to ensure proper maintenance of your mini split system.
